Smart Travel Companion Privacy

This notice explains how SO ELSEWHERE handles your information when you use the Smart Travel Companion at my.soelsewhere.com.au. For purchases in our online shop, our main Privacy Policy also applies.

What we collect

Your email address, to sign you in and connect your purchase to your account.
Your name and travel preferences, if you choose to add them.
The journey details you enter, such as destinations, dates, flights, stays, bookings, references, addresses, contacts, notes, budgets, packing and preparation lists, and journal entries.
Purchase details from Shopify: your order number, the email used at checkout, the products bought, and any cancellations or refunds, so we can give and manage your access.
Basic technical information, such as your IP address and browser type, which our hosting provider records to keep the service secure and running.

Payments are handled by Shopify. We never see or store your card details.

What we don't do

The companion has no advertising and no analytics or tracking tools. We don't sell your information or share it for marketing. Your journeys are private to your account.

On your device

The companion remembers a few display choices, such as sections you've hidden, in your browser's storage. Journeys you print or download stay on your device and don't update automatically.

Where your information is stored

Supabase stores your account and journeys in Sydney, Australia.
Netlify hosts the companion and may process technical information on servers outside Australia, including the United States.
Resend sends your sign-in emails and processes your email address in the United States.
Shopify processes your purchase under its own privacy policy.

These providers only use your information to provide their services to us.

How long we keep it

We keep your information while you have an account. When you remove a journey, it's hidden straight away and can be recovered on request. You can ask us to permanently delete your account and journeys at any time. We keep purchase records for as long as tax and accounting laws require.

Your choices

You can view and edit most of your details in the companion. To ask for a copy of your information, a correction or deletion, email us and we'll respond within 30 days.

Keeping it safe

Sign-in uses one-time links and codes, so there's no password to steal. Connections are encrypted, and access rules make sure only you can see your journeys. Please don't store sensitive numbers, such as passport or card numbers, in your notes.
